For a recent episode of Fringe that looked into life in an alternate universe in 1985 where many of our current technologies exist - 80’s style credits for a current show! Brilliant!
And for any of you not watching Fringe…..I highly recommend that you start!
Good ol’ JJ Abrams and his what if’s…
In 2009 I watched a great deal more television than in years past. I think this is 89% because of Hulu. God bless you for your time shifting abilities, allowing me to watch shows on my laptop from bed, and for free! (the other 11% you ask? Netflix)
So rather than continue with the “tops” or the “favorites” I decided to take a different route for my reflection on TV. Here are my top shows I finally got around to watching in 2009. Dedicated to all those who told me about these for years and stuck with me until I got around to them.
Freaks and Geeks/Undeclared - Albeit the former was by far the better show, I feel you need to mention both of these cancelled Apatow series. Consider me a late join to the club. Also, did anyone else find it HILARIOUS to watch our dear Samm kill Nazis in Inglorious Basterds?
Firefly - How did I avoid a Joss Whedon show for so long?! Probably because no one said “Hey Kristin it’s a western….IN SPACE!” Spectacular. I’d seen Serenity prior and didn’t care much for it, then watched again and… still felt the same way - odd huh? Alas, welcome the newest convert to the Browncoats.
How I Met Your Mother - I’m still not caught up - but damn if this isn’t one of the funniest shows on television. I generally hate :30 sitcoms, but this is damn fantastic. Thank you Neil Patrick Harris.
Friday Night Lights - Say what you will, but this is an incredibly moving drama. I have no interest in high school football, but you cannot help but become absolutely captivated by these characters. Texas forever :)
Next year I promise I’ll get around to Battlestar Galactica and The Wire. Lost might take me longer…

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, 1983 (dir. Richard Marquand)
this is my favorite of all the Star Wars movies.
In light of David Cross’s most recent declaration, there is only one man who can help us now.
